I have to admit to something that kind of makes me kind of sick. There’s a show on TV called Bridezillas, which follows various women as they scream, cry, fight, and fuss their way towards their wedding. Shamefully, I love this show. It’s all the best things about bad reality TV all wrapped up in one white chiffon package. Because I tune into this show, I knew what a recent survey has proven: women are increasingly opting to choose fat friends to serve as bridesmaids in an attempt to look thinner.
According to a survey by Slim.Fast in the UK, half of all new brides end up dieting before the wedding. Some 33 percent choose fat friends to serve as bridesmaids in an attempt to look thinner. Even 20 percent of female guests choose to diet before a wedding, and they’re not even the ones involved in the bridal party!
“Women are obviously feeling such pressure to look good on their big day that they’re resorting to selecting bridesmaids larger than themselves. It’s very sad and a real shame. Looking at these statistics, it seems to be a worrying new trend,” said Fiona Hunter, a nutritionist at Slim.Fast.
New trend? This type of behavior has a long tradition of occurrence at every wedding and high school for years! Standing next to fat and/or ugly people always makes you look better! That’s why the other three women on Sex and the City look remotely attractive when they stand next to Sarah Jessica Parker!
