The HIV virus is one of the most deadly long-term diseases to ever be introduced into humanity, basically taking over where smallpox left off.  However, researchers may have discovered a secret weapon in the form of Donor 45, a gay black man in the United States who has lived with the HIV virus for over 20 years thanks to a specific antibody his body has created that causes the HIV virus not to bind with his cells, effectively neutralizing over 91% of all possible HIV strains!  This, alongside the HIV cocktail of drugs developed, could actually develop into some kind of usable anti-HIV vaccination, stimulating the body’s immune system to fight off the virus that causes AIDS in the same way we get shots for measles, chickenpox, and the flu!

The best part of this newly-discovered viral response is that it hits several variations of HIV immune to current treatment methods.  If prevention and education aren’t doing the job in stopping the spread of HIV, then maybe it’s time to start inoculation.  There’ll never be a one-size-fits-all way to stop HIV due to the virus’s mutation abilities, but maybe we can treat it and drive it from the body before it latches hold.
