The flight was to go from Washington, D.C., to sunny Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the flight wasn’t as easy as it should have been, as the plane encountered a little turbulence. And by a little turbulence, I mean 21 people were taken to the hospital with injuries after turbulence forced a plane to make an emergency landing in Denver, Colorado.
The plane, a Boeing 777, was otherwise unharmed, but the passengers? Not so lucky. Most of the injuries were minor ones relating to bumped heads and strained necks, but one man was apparently injured severely enough to require hospitalization overnight. Hence the emergency touchdown of United Airlines Flight 967, as it’s better to be safe than sorry. The cause of the turbulence is not yet known, but officials from the FAA and United are en-route to the scene to investigate the matter.
Personally, I blame the autopilot. As you can see from the above picture from the cockpit camera, he’s far from the sharpest knife in the drawer. Looks like those passengers picked a bad day to quit sniffing glue!
