Today’s a day for celebrations! Slice up that cake, open that bag of chips, and order in a pizza because it’s time to enjoy the greatest treat life has to offer: junk food. That’s right, diabetics bar the door because it’s National Junk Food Day! Time to chow down, everybody!
Here’s some fun facts about the American diet. Did you know the average American eats nearly 25 pounds of candy every year? And some 11.6 pounds of that is pure chocolate? Nearly 90% of American households have ice cream sitting in the freezer right now, or have eaten ice cream lately. Staggering numbers, aren’t they?
Yeesh, no wonder America is so fat. We love our junk food, we love our cars, and we don’t love our exercise. Indulgence is a wonderful thing, but you just can’t overdo it. Eating 25 pounds of candy seems like overdoing it to me, but it’s easy for things to accumulate when you do it a little at a time.
