Hirter Brewery has been around since, roughly 1250 AD, so obviously they’re really good at making beer, and they make pretty much every variety of beer that you can sell. However, they might have something to learn about marketing in the modern age. If you use women in your ads at all, you’re going to offend someone, either the uptight moralist or the uptight feminist. Hirter’s latest ad, depecting three topless women holding a beer that matches their hair color (amber for a redhead, porter for a brunette, ale for a blonde) has caused feminists to rally for a beer sign ban.
The ad is part of a series of beer ads throughout Austria, and the feminist group wants them all bad. Meanwhile, you can see topless women with beer at pretty much every beach, lake, river, or park in Europe. Listen, sex sells. Whether it’s beer or coffee shops, attractive women look good in ads. There’s no nudity or anything too sexualized, just shirtless girls and beer.
I suggest everyone chill out, have a drink, and just relax. The ad isn’t great, but it isn’t worth banning, either.
