When Barbara Dewberry, her son David Hurst, and her 17-year-old grandson broke into the County Line Club outside West Point, Mississippi, they had a plan. They were going to grab the cash, then grab the beer. The threesome stole 20 cases of hops and barley in all, and their get-away would’ve been perfect, except for the fact that their neighbors weren’t interested in buying stolen beer. So the three crooks decided to drink as much of the stolen beer as they could. The three drank 11 cases of stolen beer before the cops caught up to them at their home in Mantee, Mississippi.
When police arrived, they found the three incredibly intoxicated. The remaining 9 cases of beer and the cash were recovered. With that kind of haul, they could’ve just opened their own bar and gone into legal business rather than try to drink themselves dry. It’s a good thing they hadn’t stolen the world’s strongest beer, because 11 cases of 120-proof suds would probably kill you.
