Lynn France thought she had the perfect marriage. After all, they started their couplehood together by flying to Italy and getting married in a beautiful old Catholic Church, and what can be more romantic than that? Well, except for maybe getting married while dressed as Prince Charming at Disney World. Unfortunately for Lynn, that’s what John’s second marriage looked like, as she discovered her husband had gotten a second marriage via Facebook.
Lynn, 41, married John France, 62, via a company called Weddings In Italy. She believes their marriage to be valid. John has a different story: he says that while they went through the trappings of a marriage in Italy, the marriage certificate was never file and, therefore, they’re not married. He discovered this when he went to file for divorce in 2007. (He also says Lynn knew this the whole time.) So when he ran off with the couple’s two children to marry a 25-year-old, he says he was perfectly within his rights to do so. After all, you can’t cheat via Facebook if you’re not married. Now the two are feuding over the status of their marriage, if any, and the custody of their children, ages 2 and 3.
Cue the lawyers!
