Deputy Brandon Jenkins, a deputy sheriff with Wake County, North Carolina’s Wake County Sheriff’s Department, has undoubtedly seen a lot of strange things during his time in uniform. However, there’s no amount of police training that can prepare you for what Deputy Jenkins dealt with recently. When investigating a truck spill, Jenkins noticed some spilled boxes on the road. As it turns out, the truck contained 60 boxes of honey bees, and they were waking up. Jenkins was trapped in his police for three hours as his cruiser was swarmed by 50,000 angry bees.
All Deputy Jenkins could do was hide in his car and wait while his vehicle was swarmed with irritated bees. Jenkins had the misfortune of arriving just in time for the bees to wake up from their night’s slumber, and being jostled awake in a truck spill doesn’t exactly make for happy insects. Fortunately, eventually authorities were able to round up an expert beekeeper, who was able to pacify the insects with smoke and collect the colony with minimal deaths.
I know 50,000 is a lot of bees, but believe me, it could’ve been millions of bees. That would definitely be worse. Despite that fact, the video of the swarmed car still looks bad.
