When you think of good customer service, what are the places you think of as providing the opposite of that? Obviously, one of the first things out of any reasonable person’s mouth (aside from the DMV) is the post office. There’s always a line, it’s usually understaffed, it’s going bankrupt, and generally, it’s a huge pain in the rear end to even bother with mailing out anything. It’s no wonder the Cape Coral Post Office in Cape Coral, Florida, got a terrible customer service score; however, when their office manager celebrated their poopy day with a poop-shaped cake, that was going too far!
A mystery shopper was in the building during a long, understaffed Saturday afternoon. The unfortunate mystery shopper had to wait 25 minutes. Top that off with bad customer service, and the post office’s score for that day was 48 out of 100. That’s what you call spectacular fail. To try and improve morale, the office manager brought in cake (that’s good!) shaped like a big pile of fresh doo-doo (that’s bad).
“This unfortunate incident demonstrates poor judgment on the part of the responsible party, and does not represent the professionalism of postal managers in the local community and across the country. The postal service apologizes to employees who were offended.” Notice how they didn’t apologize to the customers who had to suffer through the lousy service.
