When it’s time to rob a store, you can’t just go in empty handed. A nasty note is well and good, but what’s really effective is a weapon of some kind. A knife, a gun, a baseball bat… or, in the case of an unusual criminal in Melbourne, Australia, an aerosol can and a lighter. That’s right, a man robbed a store with a makeshift flamethrower.
Senior Constable Travis Henson described the incident as thus: “The offender has pointed the flame thrower at the victim at his face multiple times and the offender is lucky he didn’t sustain serious facial injuries or burns from the flame-thrower. This is the first time I’ve heard of a hold-up of this type. It looked like he had done it before and knew the potential of lighting a flammable can.”
So, dumb guy? Check. (He can’t be smart, he pointed a flamethrower at his own face.) Weird robbery? Check. A) He robbed the store with a makeshift flamethrower and B) he got away with a box of headache tablets. Yeah, we have a future Darwin award nominee somewhere in Australia.
