There are always many luggage inspectors at every airport you go to, but they’re especially vigilant when it comes to two things. One of these is carrying fruit across international lines, and the other of these is when looking for smuggled antiquities. The black market antiques trade is huge business, so no doubt that’s what Greek airport security officials were looking for when they were searching through the luggage of a pair of American tourists. They didn’t find any antiques; instead, they found human remains. Two American tourists were stopped at the airport in Athens, Greece, carrying human skulls in their luggage.
The matter is going to become a he-said, she-said thing before this is all over. The tourists say they bought the skulls at a gift shop in Mykonos and believed them to be replicas, not real deal actual human skulls. Greek officials have released the pair pending trial while they investigate the weird carry-on baggage.
