Eddie Fisher was a brilliant musician who scored a long string of hit albums in the 1950’s. He also appeared in several popular television shows and movies during his time as a teen idol. However, he’s more remembered for his famous marriages to Debbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Taylor, and Connie Stevens, three of the biggest stars of his era, than for his actual career. In later years, he watched as his daughters Carrie Fisher and Joely Fisher became actresses in their own right. Now, Eddie Fisher is dead at age 82, having passed away in his Berkeley, California, home following hip surgery.
Amazingly, Eddie Fisher is one of the few men to have two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He’s got a star for his recording work and a star for his television work. At one time in the 50’s he had both a popular variety show and a string of huge hits for the better part of a decade, but after Frank Sinatra and rock and roll, his career was never the same. Still, he stayed busy, and stayed a popular draw at nightclubs and smaller venues. Unfortunately, his remarkable life came to an end yesterday.
