When a dyed-pink kitten was discovered in a backyard in the UK, people weren’t sure what to think. Was it some kind of prank? Was it some kind of animal cruelty stunt? What turned the little kitten known as Pink into a little pink kitten? After a nationwide search, the culprit has been discovered. Natasha Gregory, the owner of the pink kitten, dyed it to match her hair. Now, Natasha and her kitten, Oi! Kitty, are soon to be reunited.
Gregory, a 22-year-old unemployed mother of two, and her boyfriend Michael Dennis took over the care of Oi! Kitty after Gregory’s sister Lisa gave her up. As for the pink coloration, Gregory insists that it is perfectly safe and harmless to the animal. “I read the instructions on the bottle of food colouring and there was nothing to say that it was harmful to humans or animals. We eat the food the dye is used on, so I knew it wasn’t toxic. I just poured some of the liquid over my hands and robbed them together and then over the cat. I was careful to avoid her face and eyes though. She didn’t seem to mind and I think she looked lovely.”
It’s only natural that an owner would want a pet that matches her color scheme, but I think that’s a bit excessive. Not as excessive as Kitty Kay Sera’s all-pink life, but it’s a little crazy nonetheless.
