It’s getting closer and closer to Halloween, which means that soon, we’ll all be hitting the stores to find pumpkins. Whether you’re looking for pumpkins to carve or a pumpkin to make pies, you’re gonna need a big orange squash-like vegetable sooner, rather than later. Perhaps that’s what drove 38-year-old Samuel D. Beu Jr. to go on a crime spree. Beu was caught on a Grand Valley, New York, farm after midnight, stealing 130 pumpkins.
Cattaraugus County police say that two men were caught arguing in the middle of the night in the middle of a field. One of these was the resident of the farm; the other was Beau the thief. Cops gave chase and arrested Beu before recovering the $1300 worth of stolen pumpkins (and finding a marijuana plant growing on his property). The great pumpkin thief was charged with grand larceny, resisting arrest, trespass, and unlawful growing of marijuana.
