We all need a catalyst to lose weight when we realize we’re losing the battle of the bulge. In my case, it was a health scare for my father which made me decide to straighten up and start living a little better. In the case of Bob Mewse, a 56-year-old man from Bristol, England, it was Google Street View. A photograph of himself on Google Street View encouraged Bob Mewse to lose over 100 pounds.
“I was horrified when I saw that photo. I was massive. My belly was sticking out and I looked huge,” said Mewse. “I’d been thinking about losing weight for some time but after seeing that picture, I knew that I actually had to do something about it. I was in such bad condition that I was unable to walk and talk at the same time. My blood pressure was sky-high and I was getting back problems due to the excess weight I was carrying around.”
So, Mewse went on a diet and exercise program, guided by a personal trainer at Fitness First in his native Bristol. Thanks to a diet rich in vegetables and lean protein, as well as a serious fitness regimen, Mewse has lost about 101 pounds off of his formerly 297-pound frame. Now here comes the hard part: maintaining the weight loss.
