If you thought Domino’s $31,000 per hour paycheck was excessive, I’d advise you not to read further on, because KFC is topping it. KFC is planning on giving away $20,000 for a single 140-character Tweet. KFC has announced the Colonel’s Scholars scholarship fund, and the best response sent to The Colonel on Twitter will earn one lucky high school senior a $20,000 college scholarship.
With your 140 characters, interested high school seniors have to tell KFC why they deserve the scholarship, says KFC spokesman Rick Maynard. KFC will then judge the tweets based on quality, creativity, and the ability to tell the student’s story. The scholarship contest runs from now until November 26, with the winners being announced on December 1. High school seniors only; others need not apply. The hash tag to use is #kfcscholars.
Of course KFC is doing this for publicity, but just maybe they’re trying to make it up to the world for inflicting the Double Down on us and starting a brand new race to the bottom for fast food restaurants.
