Right now, the highest gas price in the United States is $3.21 a gallon on Long Island. Meanwhile, the least-expensive gas is Denver, Colorado’s $2.61 per gallon. The national average of gas prices is $2.91 per gallon. There’s no doubt about it, those numbers are bad. Unfortunately, they’re going to get worse. According to Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey, gas prices will be topping $3 per gallon by Christmas.
“It is once again crude oil at work,” said Lundberg.
Crude oil prices are at a 25-month high right now, with the price of a barrel of crude sitting at $89 for a barrel. Gas prices have gone up nearly 4 cents per gallon since the last Lundberg Survey, two weeks ago. So, if you really need gas or plan on doing some holiday travel, either stock up now or prepare to feel the pain at the gas pump.
