Will Muschamp and Jimbo Fisher share a history together. The two are best friends who worked together on Nick Saban’s 2003 national championship LSU Tigers team, among other places. Now, Jimbo Fisher and new Florida coach Will Muschamp find themselves in the same market, competing for the same recruits, and sharing the same beach house. That’s right, Florida coach Will Muschamp and Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher co-own a beach house together in Panama City, Florida.
Cue the call from Orlando Sentinal columnist and radio personality Mike Bianchi to dub the Florida/Florida State game “The Beach House Brawl.” I can’t say no to that. I like the idea of the two playing to determine who gets custody of the beach house for the year, it adds an extra layer of competitiveness for a contest that’s lacked drama in recent years. Now that the two coaches are friends, unlike former Florida coach Urban Meyer and former Seminoles chief Bobby Bowden, the long-running interstate rivalry gains a new edge.
