After the fall of the Soviet Union, a lot of people got really rich, and a lot of industries got left by the wayside. One of the biggest casualties of the sudden oncoming rush of capitalism was Russia’s beef industry, which was crushed beneath a wave of cheap imported meat. Russia has made it a goal to restart their beef industry, so they went to the beef experts in the state of Montana. Darrell Stevenson sent an “instant ranch kit” of 1400 beef cattle, quarter horses, and cowboys to Russia.
As it turns out, Montana’s vast grasslands are a perfect comparison to the vast grasslands in the Voronezh region of Russia. That’s where the new ranch, the Stevenson Sputnik Ranch, will be located. The ranch will be co-owned by Stevenson, a rancher in Hobson, Montana, and Russian investors. Part of the job requirement for the cowboys is to train Russian herdsmen on the care and handling of beef cattle, hence the 1400 full-sized cows that were air-mailed to Russia.
If you want advice on a cat ranch, go to crazy cat people. If you want advice on a beef ranch, don’t go to vampires; go to Montana.
