When it comes to stopping a snowball fight, police don’t really know what to do. Rather than just leaving things alone as they should, police in Berlin got involved when a 40-person snowball fight got out of hand. When orders didn’t work and the crowd of youths turned on them, the cops decided to take things to the next level. Two police officers used pepper spray to stop a crowd of 40 youths pelting them with snowballs.
Well, at least they used pepper spray rather than pulling their gun in response to snowballs. Granted, pepper spray bombs hurt like crazy, but that’s better than being shot by a cop that’s drunk with power. I understand the need to keep things under control, and the party did get out of hand when it expanded from 25 people to 40, but why not just call in a few more cops and then use a display of force to get people to disperse rather than moving straight to the peppers?
