It’s one of the biggest series of arrests in New York state history and the result of thousands of hours of work by law enforcement officials, spearheaded by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Over 100 mobsters from the Colombo and Gambino crime families were arrested in the largest arrest of mobsters in New York state history! The Colombo crew was the hardest hit, with most of their senior membership getting nabbed, while the Gambino family was also targeted.
“Early this morning [Thursday] FBI Agents along with our law enforcement partners began arresting over 100 organized crime members for various criminal charges,” said FBI spokesman Diego Rodriguez. “Additional information will be available at the US Attorney’s offices later today.”
New York Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to announce more information later today in Brooklyn. The string of arrests is the largest amount of organized crime-related arrests made in a single day, with most of the administration of the Colombo and crime family being arrested by federal agents. It’s nice to see the FBI doing something other than complain to Wikipedia about their logo usage.
