For those not in America, the Super Bowl (the championship game of the National Football League) is a big deal. It determines some networks’ entire programming schedule, gets record ratings, and even the Super Bowl ads are a big deal. Everyone watches it, and that’s not hyperbole. In a pair of tightly-contested games that nearly lived up to the hype, the Super Bowl competitors for Super Bowl LXV have been determined. Facing off will be the NFC champion Green Bay Packers and the AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
“I’m going to enjoy this,” said Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. “Shoot, any time you get to the Super Bowl, it feels good. I don’t care what you’re going through or what’s going on. We put a lot of stuff behind us early and found a way.”
While it’s not the Jets-themed Super Bowl that the NFL had to be hoping for (given New York’s massive media market), it is a match-up of the two best teams in the NFL, and that’s all anyone can hope for. The Steelers survived Roethlisberger’s 4-game suspension for sexual misconduct earlier this season, while the Packers have played great all year long behind all-pro quarterback Aaron Rogers. It’s two of the best quarterbacks int he league facing off with one another (and two of the best defenses in the NFL ready to pound the glory boys into the turf), and I for one can’t wait. This is going to be a fun one.
