It took jurors in Cleveland, Ohio, only a few minutes to acquit 19-year-old Demrick McCloud of the crimes of which he was accused. McCloud was accused of being the ringleader of a group of teens that beat a high school student and threatened him with a gun. He was arrested on October 13 and held in jail until trial, but now he’s a free man. Not only did jurors acquit Demrick McCloud, three of the jurors want to pay him to get his GED.
I have to wonder just what is going on in this case. I mean, for one thing, the jurors acquitted the man quickly despite the prosecutor having a witness that says, “Hey, that’s the guy that beat the crap out of me.” Not only that, three of the jurors have decided to forefeit their jury payment of $100 a piece in order to encourage McCloud to get his GED. That’s $300 to reverse-bribe someone to get an education!
Either these cats didn’t want to be on that jury, or they were blown away by the potential this kid has.
