Much of the time, if a shelter animal is having a hard time finding a new home, it’s because she is no longer a cute and cuddly baby, or because he has some sort of special condition, such as heart worms. In the case of a British feline, dubbed “ugly stray Charlie,” it’s because he looks too much like a Harry Potter villain.
Visitors to the Blue Cross animal charity have reportedly be scared off by the cat’s resemblance to Potter’s enemy, Lord Voldemort, according to workers at the charity. Thanks to a bout with skin cancer, Charlie’s nose and ears had to be removed. To make matters worse, the white cat can’t seem to get on with the other kitties at the charity, so he has to live alone, staring out of his cage. This is where the similarities end, however.
Staff at the shelter insist that Charlie is a lovely cat who enjoys being cuddled and made over, and who is still playful in spite of his age. (He’s fourteen.) They’re trying desperately to rehome him, and say he’d be perfect for a fan of the franchise.
Here’s to hoping that Charlie will luck up and find his forever home with a whole family of Potter fans who’ll allow him to be their one and only Voldekitty.
