Rebecca Wells was a devoted employee for the Los Angeles County Department of Internal Services. She was a longtime compliance auditory for the county government, and apparently she was a hard worker who kept to herself. I can guess this with some certainty because when Rebecca Wells died in her cubicle on Friday, no one noticed she was dead until the next day. She sat in her cubicle office for over a day without anyone noticing she was a corpse.
According to coworkers, the last time anyone saw her alive was at 9 AM on Friday morning; when a security guard found her on Saturday morning, she was slumped over her desk and unresponsive. The 51-year-old Wells had recently become a grandmother. Cause of death is unknown at this time.
I suppose I should take heart in that it only took them a day to discover she was dead. Imagine how bad it would have been if she had been left in her cube to mummify. It’s never good for someone to die, but for someone to die at work? That’s just somehow making death worse.
