When 3-year-old Claire Hill was a baby, she was blessed by Pope Benedict on his way through Sydney, Australia. Somehow, that blessing must have stuck, because Claire is a miracle child right now. Tiny toddler Claire Hill was run over by a 4-ton, 22-seat bus but was completely unharmed. If that’s not a miracle, then I don’t know how magnets work.
”I jumped in the driver’s seat and just rolled forward,” said Claire’s father, Peter Hill, who was driving the bus at the time his daughter got mashed. ”And Claire opened the door and hopped out of the car, and the next thing I know, someone’s banging on the bus. I went to look and saw Claire lying underneath the two back wheels, pinned to the ground. At that moment I thought: ‘God, I’ve killed her.’ ”
As it turns out, Claire was fine. She was run over by a bus, has tire marks on her stomach, but suffered no serious injuries, no mashed organs, and no broken bones. She wasn’t even deeply bruised by the incident! Say what you want to about the merits of the Catholic Church or the ritual of blessing, but something was looking out for this kid, otherwise she’d be street pizza.
