For three years, Rozonno and Mia McGhee tried to have a family. Nothing seemed to work, so the couple resorted to fertility treatments and bingo, we’ve got babies… lots of babies, in fact. Rozonno and Mia McGhee have sextuplets: Olivia, Madison, Rozonno Jr, Josiah, Elijah, and Isaac. After Mia McGhee posted a family photo on Facebook, she got the attention of Oprah Winfrey, who flew the family to Chicago to shower them with gifts.
Here’s the haul from the Oprah appearance: A $250,000 gift card from Walmart, a 4-night stay in Caesar’s Palace Las Vegas, and free front-row tickets to Celine Dion’s concert. The McGhees have not had a honeymoon or a vacation in their 11 years of marriage, which means they’re about ready for a trip to Vegas. The couple, from impoverished backgrounds in Columbus, Ohio, married when they were teenagers.
“Most days, maybe two or three people come throughout the morning and then the night to help with baths and help with clean up,” said Mia of her days alone with the children (Rozonno runs a small carpet-cleaning business). “I stick to a schedule and clean the babies’ bottles as soon as they’re done eating and dispose of their diapers regularly. That keeps the smell down. When I was at the airport I actually held one baby and changed another.”
Added the happy mother, “I want to make sure I instill values in them. First love God – know God and love God first because he brought them here with purpose. But I want them also to get an education, a good education. That’s something we’re still working on, which we’re going to do. … And just be productive citizens.”
