Never a venue for the health conscious, the West Michigan Whitecaps have taken ballpark food to new highs, at least according to measures ranking fat, cholesterol, calories, and awesomeness. Long known for their unique takes on ballpark favorites, the minor league baseball team from Comstock Park, Michigan are allowing fans to vote for the food on next season’s menu. Fans can vote from a host of new items to grace ballpark menus during next season’s Whitecaps games, including fried bologna lollipops, a bacon cheeseburger on a honeybun, a meat salad, a meat and potatoes parfait, a bacon-wrapped hot dog, and a spaghetti-and-meatballs sandwich on garlic bread.
It’s a far cry from pizza and wyngz, and it’s definitely not health food or high-class food (though they do have a gourmet hot dog with duck meat and frog legs on the menu). Still, of the listed choices, the one I like the most is the bologna lollipop. I love me fried meat, and if you can fry me cold cuts? So much the better! Plus, it’s food on a stick, and fans can’t resist food on sticks.
