Yesterday, the talk of the Internet was Justin Bieber’s hair.  Yes, again.  The mop-haired singer made waves with his luxurious Beatle bangs when he broke into the world consciousness, and he made waves again when he got his trademark brow-tickling swoop chopped off by stylists.  Now, he’s making waves a third time by giving his hair away.  Yesterday, Justin Bieber gave Ellen DeGeneres a lock of his hair, which Ellen will be auctioning off for charity.

“That’s my hair. I’m giving pieces of it to different people,” explained Bieber yesterday on Ellen.  “We’re doing something special.  We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want to.”

Celebrity hair auctions are nothing new; this sort of thing happens to Elvis all the time.  Also nothing new are weird body part auctions, like the toenail auction for charity that happened this time last year.  Still, it’s pretty rare that the star himself gives up the hair to be auctioned, then autographs the case in which it is sealed.

That’s pretty cool, Biebs.  Maybe you’re not so bad after all, despite being a teen idol movie star.  Good for you to look out for the little guys of the world and thanks for using your fame for good, rather than evil.
