I am notorious among my friends for paying attention to television commercials. When done well, they’re a short film with a plot that’s resolved in 30 or 60 seconds. A prime example of a fun, attention-grabbing commercial was Kevin Bacon playing Kevin Bacon’s biggest fan to promote Logitech. Sure, if you can’t hold my attention, I will hit the forward button on the DVR remote, but if the ad is a clever one, I’ll watch it. I love Super Bowl Sunday for both the football and the commercials.
I’m not sure if the first-ever Twitter Jock at MTV tweeted about it, but this commercial for MTV in Brazil falls into the clever category. According to copyranter, 10 balloons had to be popped per second to animate the images. The crew shot for 24 hours straight before nailing down the final perfect runthrough.
