She’s one of the world’s best-known mothers of multiples (sorry, Michelle Duggar). The 36-year-old mother of eight shot to fame thanks to a series of specials on TLC, which led to an appearance on Dancing With The Stars (though she is not a star) and a hit television show, but the gravy train is coming to an end for Kate Gosselin and company. TLC is pulling the plug on Kate + 8 at the end of this season. Enjoy it while it lasts, reality TV fans.
“While it is very sad for me and the kids (there were many tears at the breakfast table this morning) we are looking forward with great anticipation to our bright future. As is very typical for me I am choosing to see the positive in this situation,” wrote Kate Gosselin on Twitter. “This is not ‘goodbye’.”
Indeed it is not. Gosselin still has her career as a motivational speaker and author to fall back on, and TLC said they would be checking in on Kate and the kids periodically via specials and other appearances. The Gosselin family and TLC have partnered for over 150 episodes of television going back to when the show was Jon & Kate + 8.
