Being one of the founders of Apple should have its privileges, shouldn’t it? Well, I’m sure it does, but Steve Wozniak is still the same geek he was back in 1975 when he designed, built, and programmed the very first Apple computer. How do I know this? Well, there’s nothing geekier than standing in line to be the first to get ahold of new technology, and for the new iPhone 4s, if you want one, you have to get in line today. Steve Wozniak is the first in line for the iPhone 4s at the Apple Store in Los Gatos, California.
Around 2PM on Thursday, Woz rolled up to the Apple Store on Santa Cruz Avenue on his Segway and settled down in the front of the line. He’s got a lot of time to kill, so he’s apparently going to pass the time on his iPad 2, chatting with fans, signing autographs, answering email, and generally being a really cool guy and the laid back antithesis to his former co-worker Steve Jobs. Woz has a history of standing in line for Apple products, even when he probably doesn’t have to, as he’s done this sort of thing for previous iPhone releases.
Y’know what, Woz? You’re okay in my book. It’s not often you see a rich man behave like the rest of us, and it’s little touches like that which endear someone to the public. Consider me endeared.
