The newest incarnation of the Three Stooges.

Once upon a time, there was a legendary comedy team.  They had honed their act on Vaudeville stages before finding success in Hollywood making short features for Columbia Pictures.  The best known incarnation is Larry Fine, Moe Howard, and Curly Howard, AKA the Three Stooges.  Their life story is fascinating; this is NOT their life story.  This is The Farrelly Brothers making a “Three Stooges” movie, and the trailer has been released.

It’s not Jim Carrey, Benicio Del Toro, and Sean Penn, but it’s not terrible.  I mean, it’s The Farrelly Brothers and the trio of Sean Hayes (Larry), Will Sasso (Curly) and Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe), so you ought to know what to expect.  It’s chock full of physical violence, slapstick humor, and an attempt to update the group’s act for modern time with Three Stooges-like lame puns about the iPhone and giving Jersey Shore star Snooki a good poke in the eyes.

Basically, what I’m saying is this:  it could have been a whole lot worse.
