It wasn’t weird flavors like breast milk and fish and chips, just plain old Edy’s Ice Cream that stopped traffic in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It wasn’t something the ice cream did, it was something the truck carrying the ice cream did. A semi truck spilled a staggering 40,000 pounds of ice cream on Interstate 69 during rush hour on Friday, blocking two southbound lanes on the biggest traveling day of the year. Quick, start passing out spoons!
The spill took an incredible 6 hours to clean up, and it’s unknown how many of the cartons of delicious ice cream went home with the people assigned to remove the spill from the road. From the looks of the picture above, a lot of those cartons survived the accident that caused the spill; according to police, a driver was pulling up the on-ramp when he took a turn too sharply and the truck overturned.
The driver was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital. As for the clean-up crew, the toll this spill will take on their bodies won’t be known until the dental bills come in from eating too much ice cream.
