Don’t call it a comeback. Actually, that’s okay, you CAN call it a comeback. After a tumultuous 2010 season that saw him being traded twice, getting a coach fired, and generally failing to perform to anyone’s expectations, wide receiver Randy Moss retired a frustrated, unfulfilled man. Now, after a year of rest and relaxation, Randy Moss has officially unretired from football and is looking to make an NFL comeback.
“Am I better deep threat than Calvin Johnson? I don’t know,” said Moss during a video chat on UStream. “That’s going to be interesting to see this year.”
Is that bravado? Yes and no. When Moss was healthy and motivated, he was one of the best receivers in football. He’s got the record for most touchdowns in a season for a wide receiver, which he set in 2007 as a member of the New England Patriots. Unlike fellow returning footballer Terrell Owens, Moss has suffered no major injuries and is physically sound. Like Owens, he’s burned a lot of bridges, but I think if you gave him a reasonable offer for a season, he’d be worth a flier. Odds are that’s what he’ll get from whatever team signs him (and I’m pretty sure someone will sign him).
