TCU isn’t officially joining the Big Twelve until the beginning of next season, but the team has already decided to get a head start on some traditional Big Eight-style criminality. Taking a cue from Big Twelve stalwarts Oklahoma’s glory days of the 80’s, four members of the TCU Horned Frogs football team were arrested by Fort Worth, Texas police as part of a campus drug raid. The four players arrested were linebacker Tanner Brock, defensive tackle D.J. Yendrey, cornerback Devin Johnson, and offensive lineman Ty Horn.
“There are days people want to be a head football coach, but today is not one of those days,” said TCU coach Gary Patterson. “As I heard the news this morning, I was first shocked, then hurt and now I’m mad.”
The four players arrested were picked up as part of a 6-month sting operation. That’s only a part of the 17 students arrested during the sting operation, but 4 out of 17 is a pretty significant number. The players in question were caught dealing marijuana to undercover agents, but others arrested dealt cocaine, ecstasy, and prescription pills to officers. Police are not sure if the four dealt to other athletes, though the affidavit seems to suggest this.
