It seems like it has been forever since Stephen Colbert’s show unexpectedly suspended tapings, leaving fans in a tizzy and forcing Comedy Central to squash the rumors. Was it a bear attack? Was it politically motivated thanks to the Colbert Super PAC? Did he offend the wrong people? Apparently, it was none of those things. Stephen Colbert is back and the Colbert Report has resumed tapings, though Colbert has not addressed just where he went or why.
While the funny man didn’t directly say why his show took that unscheduled hiatus, he did make a few cryptic comments. For example, Colbert said: “Oh, one more thing. Evidently having 11 children makes you tough as nails.” He soon added, “Confidential to a lovely lady.” Colbert also thanked his fans for their support and prayers on Twitter.
So we’re all in agreement, right? Stephen Colbert is pretty much the best son ever, and he took time off from his show to spend time with his ailing mother. Colbert is one of 11 children; his father and two of his siblings died in a 1974 airplane crash. Colbert missed only two scheduled tapings of his program, but to fans, that two was enough to give everyone Dave Chappelle flashbacks.
