The Obamas were caught on the Kiss Cam. They obliged the crowd.

The President of the United States is always being watched by cameras.  That’s either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your proclivity for gaffes.  In the case of President Barack Obama, that has been both good and bad in equal measure in his career.  He’s screwed up majorly and he’s indulged his inner nerd in equal measure.  However, there’s nothing more awkward for anyone, President or no, than the Kiss Cam.  Barack and Michelle Obama were caught by the Kiss Cam at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., while watching the US Olympic Basketball team in an exhibition versus Brazil.

Amazingly, the first time he was caught on camera, the President didn’t take the bait:  he put his arm around his wife and grinned, but didn’t kiss her (if that’s not a metaphor for Obama’s first term in office, I’ve never seen one).  However, peer pressure finally got to the better of Obama during the second highlighted kiss cam moment, whereupon he gave his First Lady a kiss.  The crowd responded to the kiss with cheers and chants of “Four more years.”
