If you live in Arizona or Missouri, don’t throw that Powerball ticket out, because you might be a winner. Last night’s record Powerball jackpot has been won. By the time of the drawing, the jackpot was jacked up to $587.5 million bucks. One ticket was sold in Arizona, and another ticket was sold in Missouri; so, if you’re not in one of those states, you’ll have to go to work. The winning numbers were 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 with a Powerball number of 6.
“Starting on Saturday we will start our jackpot over again at $40 million and work it up again,” said Sue Dooley, production coordinator for the Multi-State Lottery Association, who administers the Powerball drawing.
A record 563 million tickets were sold for the Powerball jackpot, the largest prize in that particular drawing’s history. The one-time cash payout option will allow the winners to split $384 million, which will be split between the two tickets (and possibly down farther depending on who all went in on the winning ticket block). An impressive 8,924,123 people also won lesser cash prizes. So, even if you’re not really lucky, you can be kind of lucky and still win some nice prizes.
