Lance Armstrong Admits To Doping

Posted 1/18/2013 6:00 am by

oprah-lance-armstrong

It’s a huge coup for Oprah Winfrey and her struggling OWN cable television network:  an interview with the most controversial athlete in recent memory.  Everyone’s talking about Lance Armstrong, and it’s got nothing to do with his Tour de France titles or his hundreds of milions of dollars raised for cancer research.  It’s all about his Oprah interview, and he did not disappoint.  Lance Armstrong admitted to Oprah that he spent a career cheating on the professional cycling circuit.

Part of the reason why so many, myself included, believed in Armstrong was his vehemence at protecting his reputation (and his hundreds of negative drug tests going back for decades).  That was all part of Armstrong’s attempts to control the story, get out in front of any allegations and direct the narrative, as well as saving his reputation with sponsons.  Now that he’s given up the fight, he can admit that.

Said Armstrong, “If I didn’t like what somebody said…I tried to control that and said that’s a lie; they’re liars.  Now the story is so bad and so toxic, and a lot of it is true.”

One of the best pieces of news for the fall television series wasn’t something new, it was something old making a comeback.  The Muppets were a television and movie phenomenon, and with the rebirth of the Muppets on the big screen, it only makes sense that the Muppets would come back on the small screen, […]

Wrestling Legend Roddy Piper Dead At 61

Posted 7/31/2015 7:10 pm by

As someone who grew up a huge fan of professional wrestling, and who watched it pretty consistently until the mid 2000s, I’ve seen a lot of my favorite wrestlers pass away.  I was always more Hulk Hogan than Ultimate Warrior, but Jim Hellwig’s death still hit me hard.  Now another childhood favorite has passed away. […]

Worms In The Water

Tap water is usually something you can trust.  You go to the faucet, turn on the tap, and get yourself a cup of delicious water.  Now, there are some places that don’t have drinkable tap water, but my town is not one of them.  Unless of course there are some chemicals I don’t know about […]

Just when you thought it wouldn’t be harder to find a presidential candidate goofier than Donald Trump.  And yet, someone has found him. Deez Nuts is one of many declared presidential candidates lining up for consideration in November.  He joins my favorite candidate, Louisville house cat Limberbutt McCubbins, as one of many people to file […]

Wherever there are people striving to be the best, you’re going to have people willing to do anything it takes to win.  When there are hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line, you’d be crazy not to use every advantage you have to try and get that money.  That’s why baseball has had a […]

The Cursing McDonald’s Minions?

Posted 7/09/2015 7:10 pm by

Foul language is unavoidable, and it probably always has been.  No matter what the morals police have implied about this new world, cursing has always been a thing, it’s just that what used to be a violent swear is now just a cheeky old-timer expression, consarn it.  However, just because it can’t be avoided doesn’t […]

I don’t know anything about Ariana Grande, but I don’t think I really want to get to know her either.  She’s behaving a little Biebery, it seems.  On the Fourth of July, Grande and her cronies went to Wolfee Doughnuts in Lake Elsinore, California, and raised a little scene that was caught on security cameras. There’s a reason Whole Foods is called Whole Paycheck.  The biggest player in the organic grocery game is renowned for being very, very expensive.  Personally, I don’t shop there, but I know a lot of people who swear by their products, despite the price.  Turns out there’s something to the store’s expensive reputation that has […]
