With the purchase of Lucasfilm by Disney, that cleared the last hurdle. One of Disney’s major plans has been to create a new series of Star Wars films. That’s right, kids; new adventures in your favorite sci-fi universe without George Lucas’s involvement! Perhaps most importantly, it’s a Star Wars film for a new generation of fans to have of their very own. Well, in a bit of great news, Disney has picked JJ Abrams to direct Star Wars Episode VII.
One of the things about the newest Star Trek film is just how much it looked like, felt like, and played like how Episodes I through III of the Star Wars saga should have played out. Star Trek is a completely different film from the other Star Trek films, playing out more like an awesome adventure than a standard Star Trek film. That’s why it was so divisive among Star Trek fans and such a huge hit with the general audience. If anyone can make a big-budget sci-fi adventure like how Star Wars used to be, it’s JJ Abrams–because he’s already done that with Star Trek’s first installment.
Think about it. He brought a beloved franchise back to life, used incredible special effects, and made a fortune. There’s nobody better for Star Wars than him!
