When it comes to jail, there are a lot of reasons people want to escape from jail. From avoiding the death penalty to simply wanting another pack of cigarettes, everyone who is in jail generally wants out of jail; some people are willing to do anything to get out of jail to the point of escaping. For every historically bad jail escape attempt, there’s a really good jailbreak. Two Canadian prisoners managed to escape from St-Jerome Prison near Montreal, Quebec via hijacked helicopter.
Benjamin Hudon-Barbeau, who has ties to the Hell’s Angels, and Danny Provencal left the jail in dramatic, Bond villain style by grabbing a dangling rope from a hovering helicopter and climbing to freedom. The helicopter was found about 52 miles away from the prison, having been hijacked from a local tour company. Both escapees were eventually recovered without incident, and several more people are being detained and questioned about their roles in the jailbreak.
