There are a lot of ways to make traditional winter Olympic events more appealing. You can tweak the rules to add a little more drama, you can try to turn your sport macho, you can have some spectacular, television-friendly crashes where no one really gets hurt, or you can show a little skin and go the sex appeal route. Sometimes, you go for sex appeal without even realizing it. Take the case of Russian speed skater Olga Graf. She should be a big deal; after all, she was a surprise bronze medalist and she was the first Russian to claim a medal on home soil. However, that’s not the case. Olga Graf is the talk of the Sochi Olympics because she nearly flashed the crowd.
“I totally forgot,” admitted Graf through a translator. “We have very good suits and they are very tight. … You just want to breathe and you want to take off your suit. Only afterward did I realize that maybe this video will appear on YouTube. But I don’t think it will be so bad.”
When celebrating her win, the 30-year-old pumped her fists and unzipped her suit to the waist, only to realize that, well, there wasn’t a shirt or sports bra on under the crazy space-age jumpsuit. She zipped back up pretty quickly, but not before she found herself getting a taste of international fame. It’s not like anyone can see anything, but still, it’s a great way to make yourself go viral, even if it is embarrassing. Not like she should be too mortified; she’s got a bronze medal for her country. Not too many people can say that.
