Taco Bell has a pretty good identity as far as companies go. They put tacos inside Doritos and they’re a cheap, easy, and consistent product to stuff into your face. You roll up for lunch, or dinner, or a 4 AM snack, get a bag of munchies, and you can go to sleep with a full belly. But what happens when you wake up and you’re hungry? Well, Taco Bell is going to invade that aspect of your life, too. Taco Bell is launching its breakfast menu nationwide, and Taco Bell is taking aim at McDonald’s with a cheeky new ad featuring Ronald McDonald talking about how good The Bell’s breakfast is. Check out the ad below!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKAcOawiaNk
The ad is the brainchild of Deutsche LA, which scoured the country looking for men and women with the name Ronald McDonald or some variant thereof. They rounded up 400, then narrowed that down to a dozen or so plucked from every corner of the United States to represent a sampling of Ronald McDonalds from around the country. McDonald’s gets about 31 percent of the fast food breakfast business in the United States and is always looking for new ways to market itself, and Taco Bell has an uphill battle, but the folks at Yum Brands think this clever ad is a good step in the right direction for their brand.
“We like to do things with a wink and smile. We have a sense of humor,” said Taco Bell president Brian Niccol. Of the Ronalds McDonald, Niccol said, “All of them resoundingly loved the food.”
