There are a lot of dumb controversies surrounding Starbucks, from the decision to test alcohol sales to the store’s ubiquity in every place folks congregate around the world. One Louisiana school teacher got a little more than she bargained for when she stopped by the Starbucks location at Baton Rouge’s Mall of Louisiana to get her caramel-topped caffeine fix. Namely, she received two lattes with unusual, and potentially offensive, artwork on top. Megan Pinion got a pair of lattes from Starbucks with Satanic latte art, namely a pentagram and 666 (AKA the number of the beast from the Bible’s Book of Revelations). Here’s an unrelated Iron Maiden video to sweeten the post.

I am a teacher in the public school system and if I were to present a child of atheist or pagan believers with a Christian art project I could be sued in a heartbeat. I am of Catholic faith and would love to share in my beliefs daily. Fortunately I have enough common sense to present myself with professionalism and follow an ethics code. Perhaps that could be suggested to that particular location.”
For their part, Starbucks has already apologized over the coffee culture clash.
