Who knew it was hard to get noticed when you’re broadcast to millions? OMG Lists has compiled a, well, list of the “Top 5 Shows The General Public (For Some Reason) Couldn’t Understand.” Some were cut short in their prime, others never generated enough attention to stay afloat—and all were cancelled by their respective networks before they ever had a chance to prove themselves. Sadly enough, I’ve only actually watched two out of the five shows named—My So-Called Life and Stella. But I’ve been told repeatedly to watch (and, in fact, been harassed for not watching) the other three. So it is with confidence that I say this is a well-crafted list. But still I wonder… Perhaps OMG Lists underestimates the general public when they declare that due to the sadly brief lives of these shows we must have therefore not understood them. The DVD sales, and the petitions that went into the release of certain DVDs in the first place (Freaks and Geeks, My So-Called Life) might prove otherwise. It seems as though it is the networks that have failed to understand the brilliance and uniqueness of these shows and others (Undeclared, for example, was not included) rather than “the general public.” Now, if you excuse me, I need to go add some things to my Netflix queue.
