First it was Kate Beckinsale; then it was Gemma Arterton. Well, Daniel Craig can finally relax! The leading lady for Craig’s second effort as the debonair secret agent James Bond has been announced at last. Ukrainian model-turned-actress Olga Kurylenko will succeed Eva Green as the next Bond girl in the series’ upcoming installment (tentatively titled Bond 22).
Olga has just recently made her way into English-language films, but many of you might recognize her as the chick (aka Nika Boronina) from last year’s Hitman. Not much else is known to the American public about Olga.
But the press release regarding Olga’s involvement in the project leaks more details than necessary. Apparently, her character’s name is Camille, she will challenge Bond, help him overcome Vesper Lynd’s (Eva Green’s character in Casino Royale) betrayal and she adores Nestle Crunch bars. That last part, I made it up, but my point is that the press release was a little too revealing for my taste.
Perhaps the spokespeople for the film should stick to the basics and let the emotional development between the characters be a, what do they call it? Ah, yes, surprise. Don’t make us choose between reading something for free and paying ten bucks to see the actual movie. It won’t be good for your wallets.
