Disney’s going for broke this year! The Walt Disney Company, in an effort to drum up more business for their chain of theme parks, has teamed up with world-renowned portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz for a new advertising campaign.
Leibovitz, the genius behind John Lennon’s naked Rollingstone cover, will be responsible for bringing Disney’s Year of a Million Dreams to life. A Year of a Million Dreams. What that means exactly, I do not know. But I am guessing you have to go to Disneyland or Disneyworld to find out.
In order to market the latest promotional period for their parks, Disney enlisted a troop of A-list celebrities to pose as fairy tale characters from the company’s many animated features. Each portrait captures a memorable scene from a different story.
Scarlett Johansson, posing as Cinderella, can be seen running hastily down a staircase with a glass slipper positioned in the background while footballer David Beckham rides his steed into the sunset as Prince Phillip (Sleeping Beauty).
UADDIT, a website dedicated to creating a “world of content submitted by anyone,” has published the entire series of photographs with the finalized captions for the actual ads where available. Check out their website to see all of the stunning portraits.
