If you identifiy with the Cult of Mac, then get on over to this list of the Top 100 Essential Mac Applications. It’s divided into various sections to give you a clear idea what’s going on. They include apps for computer file management, Internet/connectivity, multimedia, small applications (you know, the ones just for fun), tools (BootCamp anyone?), and work software.
Even though “essential” may be stretching it a little, this guy spent a week compiling the whole list. He wasn’t very selective, considering it features just about every application you can download for Mac. But either way, if you’re in the market for a specific fix, this should be your very first stop.
Because I wasn’t exactly on the hunt for anything useful, my favorite “essential” application has to be Time Out. This program literally just reminds you to take a break from your computer. It even incorporates Micro-breaks that last for a matter of seconds. Is it essential? Maybe not, but now you have another excuse to make another trip to the water cooler.
