Diehard Indiana Jones fans simply cannot wait until Memorial Day, when the fourth installment of their favorite film series will finally hit the big screen. They’ve waited 19 years since The Last Crusade (the third movie in the franchise) topped the box office, which explains the froth forming at the corners of their mouths.
However, in this crowd, patience is no longer a virtue. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will be released in about three months (May 22nd), but fan speculation seems to have taken over the internet.
All-things-entertainment news site The Deadbolt has published an article gathering all the theories and collected evidence (thus far) in one place for fans to pour over during the remaining stretch of waiting time.
Apparently, series director Steven Spielberg and writer George Lucas (yes, that George Lucas!) have decided to take the best elements from all the scripts they’ve seen in the last two decades and piece them together to create the best story possible for the fourth film. The Deadbolt reports that Spielberg and Lucas have brought on screenwriter David Koepp, of Carlito’s Way fame, to carry out that job.
In addition, the article goes on to dissect the likelihood of certain leaked Indy scripts–their authenticity, general plot, good aspects and the downright awful gimmicks of each (a monkey bringing Indy back to life with a peach? a rhino-versus-tank chase scene?). And, thankfully, The Deadbolt also takes the time to explain which scripts floating around on the internet are simply fan fiction and not to be bothered with.
Unfortunately, due to the secrecy that the Indy 4 crew has treated the project with, rumors and vague interview quotes are really all we have to go on for now. So, keep that countdown until Memorial Day rolling and check out The Deadbolt’s full article here.
